Program Description:
Biology Field Experience in Brazil BI 319

Biodiversity in Brazil ranks among the highest in the world. Over a period of ten days, students will be exposed to the diversity of the Atlantic forest and marine ecosystems.  Students will get the rare opportunity to observe wild populations of the endangered Golden Lion Tamarin and work with the marine conservation group Profauna in Ubatuba.  Students will learn various field techniques and get an introduction to rainforest diversity and sea turtle biology.  Each student will conduct independent research projects and analyze the data collected in Brazil during the spring semester.  Pre-requisites include Vertebrate Zoology BI 318 and/or Evolutionary Biology BI 365.  Permission of the instructor is required for registration.
