QMUL has a variety of courses in which students can enroll. Students must be academically engaged for four days per week. Students have a choice of taking four courses, four credits each, for a total of sixteen credits or students can take three courses, four credits each, in addition to taking a three credit internship for a total of fifteen. The typical semester at QMUL runs from mid-September to mid-December (Fall semester) and from January to mid-June (Spring semester).
QMUL offers a wide variety of academic options across subject areas, with more than 900 modules (courses) available each year. Students have the ability to pre-register for their modules with assistance from the Office of Study Abroad.
An International Internship is a unique opportunity that will allow the student to develop their professional skills for the working world. The Internship gives students a chance to experience how business is conducted first-hand in another country and an understanding of a new culture and society. The primary goal of an intern will be to continually seek to learn new skills and develop themselves as both individuals and as professional employees. The Students' Union also operate the Volunteering programme
. Through the programme you can find volunteering opportunities working with a wide variety of organisations and charities in the local area (Tower Hamlets) and all over London. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people in the wider community, adding a whole new dimension to your study abroad experience at Queen Mary.
Students will live in fully furnished on-campus apartments along the Regent’s Canal, looking on to Mile End Park. These modern apartments have single occupancy rooms and the majority have en-suite (private) bathroom facilities. Typically rooms are grouped between four and six students with shared kitchen facilities. You will be placed in mixed flats with students from the UK and many other countries.

In addition, our students will have an overnight trip to Liverpool for the Beatles train, including Cavern Club and Magical Mystery Tour, plus visit to Tate Liverpool art museum!
Throughout the semester, students will have day trips to Dover and Canterbury, as well as Bristol with focus on the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. There will also be cultural activities such as a cooking workshop and Rolling Stones in London tour!

Students who engage in an internship while in London are required to apply for a Tier 4 visa. Students are responsible for obtaining all necessary documentation and for applying for their own visa, where necessary. If students are not engaging in an internship, immigration information can be found in their studioabroad account.
It is imperative all students fly directly into the UK. Students should not have any connecting flights or stop overs in Ireland or the EU.
In order to participate in this program, each student must complete the following steps (preferably in this order):Attend information session (required)

Attend accepted students’ meeting (required)
Meet with academic advisor again
Attend course approval clinics
Attend pre-departure meeting (required)
After the initial application has been processed by the Study Abroad Office, students will receive an e-mail regarding their application status and instructions on the next steps.

Students applying to study abroad at QMUL must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 as well as meet the remaining Fairfield University study abroad approval requirements. This program is competitive and applicants are expected to exhibit a high level of maturity, independence, and seriousness of purpose.
All students will be charged Fairfield University tuition and room. For questions regarding billing, please contact the Fairfield University Bursar’s Office.
Semester program cost includes
Airport pick-up and transfer
Onsite student support with 24-hour emergency assistance
Insurance, including full medical coverage and medical emergency evacuation
Students are required to submit a non-refundable $1,000 deposit for their program after committing to going abroad for a semester or summer, and are subject to a cancellation fee if they withdraw from the program after the deposit deadline. The deposit is part of the students overall tuition and will be reflected on their invoice.The Deposit Deadline is as follows:
Fall/Year: March 1
Spring: September 15
The amount of the cancellation fee will be determined by the Fairfield University Office of Study Abroad after a review is conducted of the non-refundable expenses that have already been incurred. These direct non-refundable expenses will begin to incur as soon as commitment is made to the study abroad program; they may include tuition, housing, and orientation fees. The cancellation fee may be as high as $12,000 or more.

All Fairfield University students participating in this program are automatically enrolled in CISI Health Insurance from the start date to the end date of their study abroad program. There is no additional cost to the student.
Fairfield University requires that all travel done independently from the program be registered with CISI for emergency purposes. Independent travel can be registered by logging into individual CISI accounts. Students will be able to log-in once insurance cards are issued (within a month of departure).
