Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 Updates

A Note for Parents and Guardians

We understand that during this unique time that parents and students may have concerns about global study.  Fairfield University wants to reassure you that we are listening to your questions and we are taking those questions to our partners, our leadership and our large consortium of professional resources to provide the answers you are looking for.  The reality is, there are still some unknowns but as each day passes we get closer to seeing a clearer future for both our fall and spring programs.  We will continue monitoring the progress the world is making and in consultation with our stakeholders make decisions with our students health and safety first and foremost.  We are asking our families to hold tight on making any decisions on Fall and/or Spring global study, to allow Fairfield University to gather and present any updates to you by July 15, 2020.   All students approved to a program available through Global Fairfield's Study Abroad have until July 15th to make their final commitment without registration, housing or financial penalty. So, between now and then, please submit your concerns so that we can address them as thoroughly as possible.  Together we will pull through this difficult time and continue our goal to shape tomorrow’s global leaders.

What programs are still open for Fall 2020 study abroad?
We are excited to offer students the opportunity to study abroad in the following locations:
Aix-en-Provence, France – IAU Center program
Athens, Greece – College Year Athens Affiliate program
Florence, Italy – FUA Center program
Galway, Ireland – NUI Galway Center program
London, UK – QMUL Center program

What back-up plan should I have for Fall 2020?
For students already committed to a Fall 2020 Program Abroad as well as new applicants - be sure to register for Fairfield Fall 2020 term courses according to the registration schedule provided by the Office of the Registrar and for your study abroad courses.  For those of you who did not participate in the housing lottery, please contact the Office of Residence Life to secure your Fall 2020 housing. If your Fall 2020 study abroad program starts as planned, Fairfield University will withdraw you from your campus courses and housing.
When will I know if study abroad Fall 2020 is still running?  
A final decision on Fall 2020 term study abroad will be made no later than July 15, 2020.  Please check here for updates.

SPRING 2021 Q and A

What is the deadline to apply to one of the Spring 2021 programs?
Fairfield Students: July 15, 2020 (original deadline extended)
Non Fairfield Students(Students from our Partner Schools from other Universities): October 1, 2020 

How do I complete the First Steps Requirement?
Applicants should email the resource account and we will send you the presentation.  There will be a quiz to follow.

Are Internships available at these programs?
Yes, they are available at the Center locations and with some CIEE and of course, with WII
