CYA - College Year Athens - Fall and Spring
The College Year in Athens experience is designed to guide students to a greater understanding and appreciation of Greece--ancient, medieval and modern--and the surrounding region. The program of studies juxtaposes the history and contributions of ancient Greece with the Greece of today: a country situated at the confluence of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, partaking of the culture of her neighbors to the north, east, and south, and bound to them by history and geography.
College Year in Athens offers a substantial curriculum at the junior-year level augmented by study-travel to important historical sites. Courses cover the following disciplines: Archaeology, Art History, Classical Languages, Environmental Studies, Ethnography, History, International Relations, Literature, Modern Greek Language, Philosophy, Political Science, and Religion.
Loyola Center at Newcastle, England - Spring Only
It is often difficult for students studying majors in the Sciences to study abroad. This program was particularly designed to enable Science majors to study abroad. The Loyola Center at Newcastle offers a great deal of flexibility in the courses students may take. The University has five Subject Pathways for Study Abroad but Loyola Center students can study subjects across any of them, as best fits their degree requirements. At Newcastle University, the teaching staff uses a wide variety of teaching and assessment styles. Lectures, seminars, tutorials, and, in some subjects, laboratory classes—provide the main points of contact between student and tutor. These are often supplemented with fieldwork, guest lectures, student presentations, conferences, and private study.
